[When Oswald Chambers was en route to Egypt, he made the following entry in his journal:]
I had a great time yesterday praying before God for all these passengers and crew and those I come in contact with. I do believe this is where my real ministry lies, in intercessory prayer. It is such an inspiration to take human stuff as it actually is and drop the categorizing to which more or less we are all so liable, dealing with human beings as types. I do not believe in the type hunt. Every human being is his own type, therefore take him as a fact, not as an illustration of a prejudice.
Pray About It: Even the Christian who would pray only minimally must have a love for people. Those who would pray diligently must be even more compelled to intercede because of the love they have for others—especially those who are hard to love.
Today, take a lesson from Oswald Chambers. Those people who pass you on the street, who ride with you in the elevator, who stand ahead of you in the grocery checkout line—every one of them is unique. Every one of them has been carefully designed by God and is loved by God. Pray today for those with whom you come in contact. Look past the circumstances that brought them you way and see them as the wonderful “human stuff” that Chambers speaks of. Never lump people into stereotypical groups. In God’s eyes, there are no stereotypes—only his magnificent creations.
True, whole prayer is nothing but love.
