Mom Heart Moments #38

Mom Heart Moments #38

Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, . . . encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

Hebrews 10:24-25

THIS MORNING, in our small Bible study, a sweet mom came in, obviously overwhelmed by the busyness of her life. As several moms gathered, placing arms around her shoulders and asking about her day, she burst out sobbing and told us what an awful mother she was. She got bits of her story out between heaves, revealing that she hasn’t gotten any sleep for some time, as she has a small baby and three other children under seven years old. No wonder she felt she was falling apart!

How happy I was that she came to our group today, because the Lord was just waiting to encourage her through the kindness and compassion of others. If she had not come, she would not have felt the fellowship of the Lord, His love, His encouragement, or His direction, because she would have remained alone.

We all feel inadequate at times, and just knowing we are not alone is so important. As believers, we have the Holy Spirit working in us, and He gives us the desire to minister to others. Some moms are great at bringing meals when someone is sick, some are practical, some are encouragers. But all of us who decide to initiate lifegiving care to those around us —including our children —influence them powerfully toward being faithful and having hope rather than giving up or surrendering to despair or moral failure. It is in praying for one another and loving one another that we will build community and true friendship.

How can you be God’s angel-messenger this week to someone who is feeling invisible or alone?
