Be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

Nothing is more defeating than feeling like our hard work is useless, unappreciated, or wasted. This verse gives us hope—a reason to work enthusiastically at whatever job God has set before us. In Romans, Paul focuses on salvation through faith in Jesus, and in 1 Corinthians, he offers practical application for what that means for our work. Jesus’ resurrection claimed victory over death, both for himself and for us. Death isn’t the end of our stories if we follow him. When we fully embrace this truth, it lends perspective to our work and daily lives. Whatever you do, work hard in the name of Jesus, remembering that everything you do for him is an investment in your eternal life. It will not be wasted!
