Isaiah 53:6

Isaiah 53:6

All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the sins of us all.

Without the guidance and care of their shepherd, sheep wander away from the flock, leaving them vulnerable to danger. Isaiah says people behave the same way. If left to our own devices, we naturally stray from God our Shepherd and follow our own sinful desires, leading us down a dangerous path to destruction. But no matter how far we stray, God pursues us through his Son, Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross, he accepted the penalty for our sins so that we could follow God once again. Do you long to get on the right path? Pray for forgiveness, meditate on God’s Word, and make choices that will lead you toward God. Your Shepherd will lovingly guide you back.
