James 5:16

The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

One of the most challenging tests the Lord may give us is the opportunity to trust his faithfulness during seasons of unanswered prayer. Perhaps you’ve earnestly prayed for something and have yet to see God move. Or maybe you’ve lost hope that your prayers have power to change your situation. This verse assures us that God hears and responds to the persistent prayers of his people. It’s important to note that he never promised to give us what we want just because we pray really hard; but this Scripture does say that our prayers have great power and will produce wonderful results. Perhaps the “wonderful results” aren’t the changing of circumstances but the changing of our hearts. Might God already be answering your earnest prayers in ways that are different from what you expected?
