Matthew 8:25-26

The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.

Picture a storm fierce enough to make grown men panic. Now imagine yourself in this scene, watching Jesus demonstrate complete control over nature. What might it be like to witness utter chaos dissolve into perfect calm? Now think about your own life. If Jesus is able to settle the wind and the waves, how much more is he able to settle the turmoil in your heart? Jesus never promised perfect circumstances, but this story affirms he can provide peace in the midst of them. Do you have faith he can do just that? What fears hold you back from trusting him?
