Philippians 1:6

Philippians 1:6

I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Paul was confident that God would help the Philippian believers progress spiritually. With this “good work” would come an attitude that would bless others. Paul later describes this attitude as “the desire and the power to do what pleases [God]” (2:13). Our part is to “work hard to show the results of [our] salvation” (2:12). God wants us to be active in our faith, not passively waiting for him to work through us. He wants us to participate in what he is doing—through praying, studying his Word, attending to his presence, and serving others. How might God be asking you to act on his good work in and through you today?
