Proverbs 15:8-9

The LORD . . . delights in the prayers of the upright. The LORD . . . loves those who pursue godliness.

These verses underline the theme in Proverbs that the favor of God comes to those who are committed to pursuing a relationship with him. God loves and delights in those who strive to live in a way that pleases him. If we don’t live with the intention of loving and serving God and others, then our prayers and our actions are empty—both to us and to God. Are you focused on living in a way that pleases your own desires? Or are you living to please your Creator? Think about the next task on your agenda and ask God to help you complete it in a way that brings him pleasure and glory.
