Proverbs 16:18

Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.

Pride has the power to destroy your life because it causes you to think you know more than God does. A person consumed by pride refuses to recognize they are completely dependent on their Creator. Pride is more than just arrogance; it is refusing to trust in God. This plays out through stubbornness, self-absorption, and a desire to control. Proverbs reminds us that wise living recognizes who God is and who we are in relation to him. Are there times when you doubt God’s ability to lovingly lead you? Is it hard to believe he knows what is best for you in certain areas? Practice humility by asking God to show you the places where pride is hidden in your heart.
