Proverbs 3:27-28

Proverbs 3:27-28

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, “Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.”

The book of Proverbs advises us how to live wisely. In our culture, we think wise living is self-focused; how can I make the most out of my life? How do I make decisions that will most benefit me? But the Bible focuses on how to live a life focused on helping others. For those who have chosen to follow God, this radical others-centered lifestyle is expected of us, because it demonstrates that we understand what real love looks like. We are commanded to not withhold good from others and to help whenever possible. Is your focus on living wisely? Are you living for your own sake or for the good of those around you?
