God is not a mortal like me, so I cannot argue with him or take him to trial. If only there were a mediator between us, someone who could bring us together. . . . Then I could speak to him without fear, but I cannot do that in my own strength.

After Job had lost everything, his friends came to sit with him in his grief. Unfortunately, they weren’t the best comforters; they suggested he had done something wrong to deserve his suffering. This passage includes part of his response. What Job wished for is exactly what God was planning to do, for centuries later, God sent Jesus, the perfect mediator “who pleads our case before the Father” (1 John 2:1). Because of Jesus, we can now draw near to God without fear. Will you let these truths encourage you to talk to God today?
