Romans 5:8

Romans 5:8

God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

In our culture, we pay honor and respect to those who die trying to save others—especially when the people they rescue are respectable or morally good. The amazing thing about Christ is that he didn’t die for those who are good. He died for those who are still sinners, proving how much he loves us. This beautiful verse supports a particular theme woven throughout Romans: We can’t do anything to earn salvation—it’s a free gift that everyone can access through faith in Christ. The next time you find yourself trying to earn God’s favor, remember that if you have given your life to Jesus, you already have his approval. What could be better news than this?
