Change Your Ways - The One Year Book of Bible Promises

Change Your Ways

Turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.

Isaiah 55:7

DAN JUST COULDN’T believe that God might care about him. “I’ve done bad things,” he told the pastor. “I’ve done really bad things. I just don’t see any hope for me.”

The pastor, a man steeped in the Bible, turned to this passage and read it to Dan. The man was astonished. “God will have mercy on me? God will forgive me? All I have to do is turn to God in faith and change my ways?”

“That’s all,” the pastor said with a smile.

Dan went on to believe, to leave his bad ways, and to become a strong member of his church. He had discovered the heart of the living God. He does not want to judge us, to condemn us, or anything of the sort. Instead, he longs for us to seek him, to look at sin and admit it has hurt us and others and that it’s wrong. If we do that, he says he will have mercy on us and will forgive.

What a portrait! God’s heart is a compassionate, gracious, and caring heart, so much so that he sent Jesus to make our salvation possible.

Are you having trouble in your relationship with God right now? Seek his heart. His promise is to forgive you and give you whatever you need to get back on track.
