God’s Armor

God’s Armor

Q: Which is not part of the armor of God?

  • a. belt of truth
  • b. shoes of pride
  • c. shield of faith

Christians are in a battle between good and evil, and God has the armor you need. Here’s the armor he promises you:

  • Belt of truth. Jesus is truth. “Jesus [said,] ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me’” (John 14:6).
  • Body armor of God’s righteousness. You can have God’s righteousness because of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Romans 5:17 says, “But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.”
  • Shoes of the peace that comes from the Good News. You have peace with God because of your relationship with Jesus. Jesus said, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid” (John 14:27).
  • Shield of faith. Your trust isn’t in yourself but in God’s power and promises. Romans 3:22 says, “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.”
  • Salvation as your helmet. Your salvation is through Jesus. Ephesians 2:8 says, “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.”
  • Sword of the Spirit. Every soldier needs a sword, and yours is the Bible. “Jesus [said,] ‘But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice’” (Luke 11:28).

All these things help you as you stand strong for God.

For You

Think about each piece of God’s armor. How can you use each one in your life?

Answer: b

Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. . . . Hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.   Ephesians 6:14-17
