Doing Good

Q: The book of Galatians says we should do good to

• a. each of our neighbors.
• b. everyone, especially other believers.
• c. those who do good to us.

If you plant carrot seeds, you get carrots. You don’t get peppers or tomatoes. That’s a simple law of nature. The same is true in our lives. In the book of Galatians, Paul tells the believers they will reap what they sow. That applies to you today, too. The things you do produce results in your life.

If you make bad choices such as lying or cheating, the results may be failure and a loss of trust. If you make good choices such as helping others, being kind to everyone, and being honest, it will result in positive feelings and in others being thankful for your deeds.

Paul encourages believers to do good to everyone, especially other believers. It doesn’t mean to do good just when it’s easy for you, but anytime there is an opportunity—even if it seems there is no result. When you do good, you are sowing the seeds and leaving the results up to God.

There are lots of ways to do good every day. There is someone who needs an encouraging word or advice. There is someone who is lonely and needs a friend to talk to or hang out with. There is someone who needs help finishing an overwhelming task. There are always needs. And God wants you to meet the needs you are able to.
