Live Intentionally

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Colossians 3:23

SOMETIMES, we guys just like to take life easy and relax a little bit. There’s nothing wrong with that—as long as we’re careful not to become complacent or indifferent about the things that matter most. Indifference is not how God feels or responds to us, and it’s not how He wants us to feel or respond to others. He wants us to live life intentionally, putting first things first.

To live intentionally, a man has to know what he believes, and he has to hold to his beliefs with great conviction. That comes first. We develop the mind of Christ by reading Scripture regularly and prayerfully. By God’s grace, this strengthens our faith, and when we’re firm in our faith, we’re able to share our beliefs with others much more effectively. This is God’s plan. He pours into us so that we can pour into others.

No matter where you work, you are an ambassador for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). Part of living intentionally is doing your work for the glory of God and the good of others. With the right mind-set, all your work takes on eternal significance.

Finally, in the passage known as the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20), Jesus tells us to spread the gospel all over the world and to make disciples of all nations. Intentional living includes being actively involved in God’s great mission.
