With All Your Heart
Read Proverbs 3
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5
How much do we trust God, really? Do we relegate him only to the huge crises in our life, not wanting to bother him with the mundane problems? Or do we do the opposite—relegating him to the little problems, while we work through the big decisions on our own? What keeps us from trusting God with all our heart in all our situations?
To trust God with all our heart means to turn everything over to him so that he can guide us and direct our paths (3:6). Of course, we can still work through our problems logically. We have been told in Proverbs to cry out for understanding (2:3), so we do need it, but ultimately we do not depend on that understanding. Instead, we depend on God. When we trust in him, we have the final authority—the one who sees the big picture—helping us to take the next step along the path of life.
