How do we live in today’s culture without compromising our convictions?

God’s Response

Daniel made up his mind not to defile himself by eating the food. . . . He asked . . . permission to eat other things instead . . . and [suggested] ten days on a diet of vegetables and water. . . . The attendant agreed to Daniel’s suggestion. . . . At the end of the ten days, Daniel . . . looked healthier and better nourished than the young men who had been eating the food assigned by the king. Be very careful never to make treaties with the people in the land where you are going. If you do, you soon will be following their evil ways. Exodus 34:12

There is a time to compromise and a time not to compromise. When the forces of evil want their way, you cannot budge. To compromise God’s truth, God’s ways, or God’s Word is to negotiate with that which is unholy. The test of acceptable compromise is simple: Can an agreement be reached that satisfies both parties without anyone’s morals being sacrificed? To give up godliness for anything is a bad bargain. You lose and Satan wins.

God’s Challenge

Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil. Ephesians 6:11
