Complaining
Complaining
When things get stressful I have the tendency to complain. Is that wrong?
God’s Response
The people of Israel also began to complain. “Oh, for some meat!” they exclaimed. . . . “Day after day we have nothing to eat but this manna!” Numbers 11:4, 6
In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing, so that no one can speak a word of blame against you. Philippians 2:14-15
Complaining is a common response to stress that allows you to express your frustrations; however, it is not the right way to make yourself feel better. God calls complaining a sin because it is self-centered. You didn’t get what you wanted, you got less than someone else, or you think you didn’t get what you deserved. The focus is on yourself. The solution is to be grateful for what you do have instead of focusing on what you don’t have.
God’s Challenge
Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. Ephesians 4:29
