Forgiveness

Forgiveness

How should I forgive those who hurt me?

God’s Response

Esau ran to meet him and embraced him affectionately and kissed him. Both of them were in tears. Genesis 33:4

Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32

Forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us. Matthew 6:12

Stop judging others, and you will not be judged. Stop criticizing others, or it will all come back on you. If you forgive others, you will be forgiven. Luke 6:37

We forgive others as God forgives us, which is completely. God’s forgiveness is not based on the goodness of the offender or the degree of the offense, but solely on his own loving character. Forgiveness does not erase the offense, but pardons the offender. Forgiveness is a choice, a commitment to reflect God’s love for us to others.

God’s Challenge

Jesus said, “Father, forgive these people, because they don’t know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34
