Integrity

Integrity

What principles should guide how I conduct my business?

God’s Response

Do not cheat or rob anyone. Always pay your hired workers promptly. Leviticus 19:13

The LORD demands fairness in every business deal; he sets the standard. Proverbs 16:11

Boaz went to the town gate and took a seat there. . . . “Come over here, friend. I want to talk to you.” . . . Then Boaz called ten leaders from the town and asked them to sit as witnesses. . . . “You are witnesses that today I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelech, Kilion, and Mahlon.” Ruth 4:1-2, 9

Treat others as you would want them to treat you, with honesty and fairness in all your dealings. You should not ask, Am I getting everything I can get out of this deal? Instead ask, Is this deal fair for both parties? That attitude does not go over well in many businesses today, but the alternative is to compromise your integrity. What is the personal cost to you if you do that? Almost anything is easier to restore than the value of damaged integrity.

God’s Challenge

People with integrity have firm footing, but those who follow crooked paths will slip and fall. Proverbs 10:9
