Work
Work
What principles should guide my work?
God’s Response
Whatever you do, do well. Ecclesiastes 9:10
Do not cheat or rob anyone. Always pay your hired workers promptly. Leviticus 19:13
The LORD demands fairness in every business deal; he sets the standard. Proverbs 16:11
Good work honors God and brings meaning and joy to your life. Emulate the character traits you see in God’s work: excellence, concern for the well-being of others, purpose, beauty, and service. When you have the perspective that you are actually working for God, it takes the focus away from the task and onto why you are doing it—to help people know God. Then the excitement and high interest that come from doing your work for God are not primarily in the work, but from the One for whom you do the work.
God’s Promise
Use honest weights and measures, so that you will enjoy a long life in the land the LORD your God is giving you. Those who cheat with dishonest weights and measures are detestable to the LORD your God. Deuteronomy 25:15-16
