Work
Work
How is my work important to the Lord?
God’s Response
Work hard, but not just to please your masters when they are watching. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Ephesians 6:6-7
If your gift is to encourage others, do it! If you have money, share it generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. Romans 12:8
Work is an important part of God’s plan for your life. God created work to give us purpose. He gave Adam work to do in the Garden of Eden before sin entered the world (Genesis 2:15). God promises three kinds of rewards for faithful work: (1) having a more credible witness to nonbelievers; (2) having our needs met without having to depend financially on others; and (3) fulfilling our God-given purpose. When you work diligently, you experience many benefits that you can pass on to others.
God’s Challenge
To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—that is indeed a gift from God. Ecclesiastes 5:19
