Being Neighborly
Being Neighborly
How should I live among my non-Christian neighbors?
God’s Response
If you see your neighbor’s ox or sheep wandering away, don’t pretend not to see it. Take it back to its owner. . . . Do the same if you find your neighbor’s donkey, clothing, or anything else your neighbor loses. Deuteronomy 22:1, 3
Be careful how you live among your unbelieving neighbors. Even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will believe and give honor to God when he comes to judge the world. 1 Peter 2:12
Live wisely among those who are not Christians, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and effective so that you will have the right answer for everyone. Colossians 4:5-6
In our world it is increasingly easy to say, “I don’t want to get involved.” When we see someone in need or notice something we could do to help, we may be tempted to turn a blind eye and pretend we don’t notice. We may hope someone else will do something about it. God reminds us that his people are to be compassionate and active, ready and willing to go the extra mile as good neighbors.
God’s Challenge
Accept each other just as Christ has accepted you; then God will be glorified. Romans 15:7
