How can I help a friend who is feeling discouraged?

God’s Response

“He may have a great army, but they are just men. We have the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!” These words greatly encouraged the people. 2 Chronicles 32:8

When others are happy, be happy with them. If they are sad, share their sorrow. Romans 12:15

Jonathan went to find David and encouraged him to stay strong in his faith in God. 1 Samuel 23:16

If a friend is discouraged, be kind and empathetic. Sometimes just being there is all that is needed. Ask the Lord for wisdom. You may be able to encourage her to stay close to God, reminding her that God is with her in her troubles.

God’s Promise

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD is the one who goes before you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:8
