Wisdom
Wisdom
How can I become wise?
God’s Response
If you need wisdom —if you want to know what God wants you to do —ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking. James 1:5
Come here and listen to me! I’ll pour out the spirit of wisdom upon you and make you wise. Proverbs 1:23
Fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in understanding. Proverbs 9:10
If you want to be wise, read and study God’s Word and then do what it tells you. Knowing God’s Word isn’t enough; you must put it into practice. Solomon was known as the wisest man on earth, but when he stopped obeying God, wisdom left him (read 1 Kings 3:5-14; 1 Kings 9:4-9; 1 Kings 11:1-12). Your own thinking often leads to false assumptions, which then lead to unwise choices. Ask God for wisdom, that is, his perspective on things. Then your choices will be wise ones.
God’s Promise
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
