He’s Got Us Covered
He’s Got Us Covered
The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you.
Deuteronomy 33:27
Have you ever been without heat in winter, where the only way to keep warm was to stay under a mountain of blankets? Or gone camping when it was so cold you had to burrow down in your sleeping bag?
But even a mound of blankets or a sleeping bag rated for extreme temperatures can’t help when life seems to be out of control, our hearts are broken, or we feel completely alone. That’s when we can count on God to meet our needs because, through Christ, God has us covered. It doesn’t matter what difficult or unexpected circumstances we are experiencing in this journey called life. God has us covered—top to bottom, over and under, side to side.
That’s why I want everyone I know to have a personal relationship with God through Christ. I want all of us to have a sure refuge where we can run to His everlasting arms. There is no better protection for whatever we’re facing than a loving God who sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to cover our sin with His shed blood on the cross. All we have to do is admit our sin and receive Christ by faith, and we are covered for all eternity.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that this earthly life becomes a piece of cake. Any number of calamities could come our way. But we can endure them as we call on Jesus and wrap ourselves in His strength. “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
When you make your bed today, think how God covers you with an everlasting love. His cover lasts when other, lesser covers—such as protection from natural disasters, financial stability, good reports from the doctor, or security in human relationships—are not sure things.
