Truth

You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

I am fascinated by the military and how they solve crimes on the television show NCIS: Los Angeles. I also enjoy watching how the main characters relate to one another. They look after each other in their personal quirky ways.

I have not seen every episode, but in a recent one the character G. Callen (played by actor Chris O’Donnell) and character Sam Hanna (played by actor LL Cool J) were having a conversation in the car before they went to get the bad guy. I found myself cheering over their words because secular media rarely presents God’s Word in a positive way:

• SAM: “What if the answers you find aren’t the ones you are looking for?”
• G: “Do you know the motto that’s engraved at the CIA headquarters at Langley?”
• SAM: “John 8:32. ‘You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.’”
• G: “Amen” (as they look each other straight in the eye).

Well, I just wanted to rise up on the sofa and scream, “Amen, too! Wow!” Whenever God and His Word are proclaimed anywhere in an honoring way in a world that mocks His name, sweet bells of truth start ringing in my ears! That was real truth on television!

The world may mock. The world may call us religious fanatics or penalize us for our beliefs. But we know that doesn’t change God’s truth or His desire for us to proclaim it.

“Lord, I want Your truth to ring out all over this hurting globe. Will You help believers to know Your truth and live it each day to Your glory and honor? Amen!”

Living by God’s truth is the only way to be set free from sin and free to uphold the truth wherever we are! Pray today for God’s truth to reign with fresh impact.
