The Fields Are [pink] For Harvest

Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

John 4:35, KJV

Wake up and look around! Jesus is talking to us! If we have believed in Jesus Christ as Savior and have received Him by faith, then just as He told this to His disciples, He is telling this fact to us. When we see a sea of women around us, we know there is ripe, sweet fruit among them—women who are ready to be introduced to Christ. We are Jesus’ branches, rooted in Him, and our job is to reach out to others.

Branches grow from the trunk of a tree, receiving nourishment from the tree and its roots. If the branches become separated from the tree, they die. We do not want to be those! We must stay connected to Jesus daily and grow spiritually in Him in order to bud and blossom.

When Jesus told His disciples that the fields were white for harvest, He was telling them that the fields were ready for picking! I think of it this way: the fields are [pink] for harvest with women who have never heard about Jesus’ love, and we are His field-workers. As women who are following Jesus, we must lift up our eyes and be part of the harvest that He brings to our attention.

In Matthew 9:37, Jesus says, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few.” Don’t be discouraged by the task. We have the privilege of sowing broadly and nurturing as seed planters, waterers, or fertilizers by praying for people, inviting people to lunch or church, or simply befriending them. Now that’s sow sweet!

We need to see ourselves as God does—as His dearly loved daughters with specific fieldwork to do!

The fields are [pink] for harvest! Let’s choose a way to start sowing as we allow God to do all the hard work in the women we encounter!
