A God-given Blessing
A God-given Blessing
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21
I experienced so much pain as a child that I thought there was something wrong with me. I also thought that if I could be good enough and do enough good things, then perhaps I could compensate for the things that were obviously wrong with me. When I brought that thinking into my relationship with God, I tried to perform for His acceptance. But that wasn’t necessary.
Through Jesus, God had already made me what I was trying to become: righteous.
Isn’t it comforting to know that our righteousness is found in Christ alone and that there is nothing we need to do to earn it? Being saved is a gift, not a reward we receive based on our performance. In a word, salvation is grace: it is an unearned, undeserved, unmerited, God-given blessing.
It took a long time for that truth to sink deep into my heart and soul, but when it did, it brought such freedom into my life. I could relax. Rest. And just receive His unconditional love. If Jesus is your Savior, He has made you righteous.
Thank You, God, for making me righteous. There is nothing I can do to earn any more of Your love than I already have. I am pure, good, and worthy because of You.
