Gifted And Talented

Each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them.

1 Corinthians 7:17

When my girls, Catherine and Sophia, were little, they each had many different toys, but I can guarantee the only one each one ever wanted was the one the other was holding. I wanted to teach them to be satisfied with what they had and to stop comparing and coveting what the other one had. And I always want to remind myself of that too!

As Christians, we know in our heads that God has a great plan for each of us, and He has given each of us the talents we need to live according to His plan. But, like children, we desire someone else’s talent regardless of the talents God has given us. Let’s refocus on what we’ve been given, so we’ll never miss out on the joy and satisfaction of doing what God has called us to do.

There’s no use pining away to be one thing when God has specially gifted and ordained you to be another. God wants you to live with a deep contentment, and you can experience this when you embrace His plan. His plans for you are good!

God, You have gifted me in a certain way for a certain reason. Please help me know that purpose, use my talents for Your glory, and be graced by contentment.
