Made To Be You

When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.

2 Corinthians 10:12

My plan seemed simple enough. Hoping for some relief from all my traveling, I had decided I would become a cookie baker extraordinaire.

To be honest, that goal was a stretch for me, but I wanted to feel normal. I wanted to be like the other moms at my daughter’s school and bake treats for the fund-raiser instead of buying something on the way to school. Transitioning into a more typical mom life was very appealing. So I carefully followed every single one of the cookbook’s instructions, but afterward all I had to show for my efforts were burned cookies and a smoky kitchen. Hardly cookie baker extraordinaire!

Later that night, I distinctly heard the Lord ask me, “Who exactly are you trying to be?” I sat down to spend some time with God so He could help me make some sense out of the last few days—which had been quite busy. He simply reminded me that He had made Christine Caine unique from every other person on this planet and that being unique is okay. In fact, our uniqueness—yours and mine—is His divine design. Sit down with Him and let Him make sense of who you are trying to be, and who you’re made to be. And then, just be you!

Jesus, please help me learn to celebrate and enjoy being the unique me You created me to be!
