Beautiful Word Devotional #293

This is what the LORD says to you: “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.”

2 Chronicles 20:15

These are Jahaziel’s words to King Jehoshaphat when he faced the armies of Moab and Ammon, and the king responded by bowing before God and worshipping him. The next morning when they set out, Jehoshaphat appointed certain men to sing the praises of God. And as they praised the Lord, he delivered Israel from their enemies. The battle—the victory—was indeed God’s.

What battle are you facing today? Unless you’ve chosen a battle you have no business entering, these words are for you too. You may feel like you are up against something stronger than you are. Even so, be strong. Encourage yourself with the truth that this is not your battle; it is the Lord’s.

Choose today to be like Jehoshaphat’s army and sing praises to God. Tell him how great he is. You’ll find your worries fading as you sing to your faithful, powerful God, reminding yourself of all the victories he has brought in your life.

Lord, instead of worrying, I’m choosing to sing to you and worship you, amen.
