Beautiful Word Devotional #327
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5–6
To trust in God means to stop trying to understand every aspect of life and do everything in your own strength. After all, we human beings simply don’t understand everything. We don’t even understand our own hearts, much less another person’s heart or the world’s inner workings. Next to God, we actually know very little. It’s crazy to try to do life on our own.
So it’s important to trust that God is sovereign and good, that he loves us and knows what is best for us, and that he can run the universe quite smoothly without our help. This proverb also instructs us to “submit to him,” and that letting go of our will and accepting his will for us is trust in action. When we surrender our lives to him, we can know his peace.
When you choose to depend on Jesus, he will make your paths straight. Will you surrender—or recommit—your life to him right now?
Lord, I want to live in dependence on you who love me, amen.
