Beautiful Word Devotional #361

The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Job 33:4

Even after all the trials Job encountered in his life, he still gave God glory for creating him. We would understand Job shaking an angry fist God’s way and turning his back on the Almighty.

We would also understand if Job chose to simply conclude that God didn’t exist. That reasoning can make sense of this capricious world where happenstance and tragedy seem to reign.

But Job chose to believe that God existed despite the loss and pain he had experienced. Job’s great faith is an example for us when we face our own trials. Like Job, we are wise to believe that God is real, that he who created us is intimately acquainted with us, that our heavenly Father loves us, and that he will see us through the most difficult and painful circumstances.

Whatever trial you’re facing today, whatever pitfalls and wrong turns and confusion, take a moment to quiet yourself. Remind yourself that God is big and that he promises to never leave or forsake you.

Lord, despite my feelings about my trials, I choose to believe that you love me, amen.
