Beautiful Word Devotional #66

Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.

Psalm 84:10

Sometimes our most vivid memories are very simple moments that are nonetheless richly significant. A walk in the woods with a dear friend. A conversation with a child over an everyday meal. A walk down an aisle. The moment a child hollers her way into the world.

God wants us to have memorable moments with him as well. He longs for us to string together daily encounters with him, brief conversations with him, and glimpses of his presence with us that we can fondly look back on. And why not be creative as you attempt to do this?

You might create little pieces of art in response to reading the Bible. Or you might concentrate on having a continual conversation with God throughout the day. Maybe your commute can be a time to worship him in song. And maybe you’ll serve the homeless on a cold night.

Spending time with Jesus in these simple but significant ways will deeply enrich your life as well as your relationship with him.

Lord, I want to spend my day mindful of you. Please show me how, amen.
