Daily Power #240

The Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (2 Thess. 3:3)

Evil has many faces, and you might not recognize it when it’s directly in front of you. The devil likes to disguise himself and attempt to befriend us, to seduce us, to trick us into thinking he’s there to help us. Nothing could be further from the truth. He wants to destroy us. Even after we’re saved, our Enemy would like nothing better than to derail our faith and undermine our joy, purpose, and peace.

When you face trials and temptations, you can lose sight of what’s really going on. You begin to doubt God’s goodness and your faith wavers. You stop praying and close your Bible. Church seems like less of a priority, and other people only annoy you. During these times, the Enemy wants to use our feelings of fear, uncertainty, and anger to pull us away from God.

All the more reason we must remain vigilant and focused on God. Our power comes from the Lord, and he will see us through whatever we may be facing. Never forget that the Enemy is out to get you, to push you down, and to take you out of the race of faith.

Your faith isn’t determined by what you feel. Acknowledge your emotions without dwelling on them and giving them power to control your decisions and actions. No matter how frustrated you are, trust in God’s power to help you handle what’s ahead.

Lord, give me the strength I need to face what’s ahead. Protect me from the Enemy and keep my faith strong.
