The Search Is On

Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.

Proverbs 16:3

WITH ALL THE TURMOIL IN the economy over the past several years, some men have lost their jobs to workforce reductions or companies going out of business. Other guys have entered the job market because they just need a change and are looking for a new career.

No matter what your situation is, take some advice from King Solomon. In Proverbs 16:3, he says, “Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.” That’s a pretty bold promise. But God can accomplish amazing things and open up unexpected opportunities. Let your faith in His power and faithfulness give you hope. If you’re searching for a new job, look for areas where God has gifted you. Focus on quality jobs that you’d enjoy instead of sending résumés to everybody. Sometimes an unwanted change results in a great new opportunity.

The current economy can sometimes make a job search seem hopeless. Fuel your hope by talking with other men. Ask your friends and men in your Bible study group to pray for you. Use social networking to communicate your desire for a new job to other friends and acquaintances. When you get God’s people involved, you may be surprised by what can happen. Above all, remember that your worth does not come from your job. Your worth comes from the Lord. And in His eyes, you’re priceless, regardless of the work you do.

BOTTOM LINE

If you’re currently in a job search, look for God in the process. He could be leading you to something totally unexpected.
