Contentment

Contentment

How can I be content when the world is telling me I can “have it all”?

God’s Response

True godliness with contentment is great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. . . . And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:6-7, 10

I have learned how to get along happily whether I have much or little. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. Philippians 4:11-12

Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, most people still believe that money brings happiness. Rich people craving greater riches can be caught in an endless cycle of ruin and destruction. How can you avoid the love of money? Here are some guidelines: (1) Realize that one day your riches will all be gone; (2) Learn to be content with what you have; (3) Monitor what you are willing to do to get more money; (4) Love people more than money; (5) Love God’s work more than money; and (6) Freely share what you have with others.

God’s Promise

Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for all his wonderful deeds to them. For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm 107:8-9
