Courage

Courage

Are there models of courage to inspire me?

God’s Response

Again he left them and prayed, “My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away until I drink it, your will be done.” Matthew 26:42

“Don’t worry about a thing,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight this Philistine!” 1 Samuel 17:32

Paul called the crew together and said . . . “Take courage! None of you will lose your lives, even though the ship will go down. . . . So take courage! For I believe God.” Acts 27:21-22, 25

Other believers who have overcome struggles can inspire us to be bold in the face of our own trials. However, Jesus’ response to the prospect of his death on the cross is our greatest model of courage. He understood fear, but he accepted the troubles ahead because he knew he was accomplishing God’s plan for him. Courage does not always mean fearlessness. Courage is stepping out in faith in spite of your fear and trusting God to fulfill his plan for you as you faithfully trust and follow him.

God’s Promise

You will have courage because you will have hope. Job 11:18
